Statement of Purpose

The VITA chapter of the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law seeks to provide free income tax assistance to low and middle-income taxpayers in Chapel Hill and Carrboro, North Carolina.

Our membership is open to all faculty and students who wish to participate. To prepare tax returns, members are required to pass the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) certification tests. Students may sign up for volunteering on My Carolina Law after Volunteer Orientation on January 27th, 2019. The time and location will be announced shortly. Please refer to the For Volunteers section for more details on orientation.
