Each month SBA will send out an e-mail newsletter with information about upcoming events and important announcements. I encourage all of you to read this monthly newsletter carefully. We will post additional information about upcoming events and announcements on the SBA Website. If you have comments, questions, or concerns feel free to attend one of our Board of Governors meetings or Open Forums. You can also e-mail us at uncsba@gmail.com. SBA Elections

1L Elections

Interested in getting involved with SBA? A 1L Elections interest meeting will be held on Thursday, September 17 at noon in room 5052. Those who are considering running for Class President or Class Representative must attend this meeting. If you have questions about running for a position or about the interest meeting please contact SBA Elections Representatives Atiya Boddie and Josh McIntyre.

SBA Committee and Representative Applications - Deadline 9/23

SBA is currently accepting application for the following committee and representative positions. To apply please submit a cover letter, explaining your interest in the position, and a copy of your resume to uncsba@gmail.com. Please note that your resume should not include GPA or class rank. Student Organizations

Fall Budget Meeting

The Student Bar Association will be holding their Fall Budget Meeting during the weekend of October 1, 2009. This is an opportunity for each organization to request funding from the Student Bar Association for their organization. In preparation for that meeting, and to inform each organization of recent changes made by SBA, SBA will be holding a meeting on September 15, 2009, at 12:00 p.m., in room 5048 at the law school. We request that one representative be present from each organization (preferably the treasurer) in order to receive funding in the fall. Please e-mail SBA Treasurer Erin Funderburk at emfunde@email.unc.edu if you have any questions or conflicts.

Dean's Message - Special Opportunities in Difficult Times

Thursday, September 10 at noon in the rotunda

Dean Jack Boger '74 and staff discuss with law students the resources that the school makes available to help them in their academic success, career preparation and skills development. The school is committed to helping students develop strengths that will enable them to succeed, especially during these difficult economic times. All students are encouraged to attend.

Carolina Law Family Day

Saturday, September 12

We hope that you consider participating in Carolina Law's 23rd Annual Family Day. The event will be held on Saturday, September 12 and will include:

  • Welcome and Remarks. From the dean of the Law School, Jack Boger '74.
  • Model Class. A faculty member will conduct a model class. The professor will use actual cases similar to those students read for class.
  • An Introduction to Career Services and Student Services. Learn more about careers possible with a law degree and the unique challenges of law school.
  • Student Panel. Head a student's perspective from members of the Classes of 2010 and 2011.
  • Information about Activities. Learn about extra-curricular and co-curricular opportunities.
  • Barbecue Buffet Lunch. (Vegetarian substitutes available.)

Class of 2010 come join us as we start our countdown celebration to graduation! Come to R&R Grill for friends, fun, and FREE APPETIZERS on Friday September 11th at 8pm! Please bring guests and friends! We look forward to seeing everybody there!

Class of 2011 Website

The Class of 2011 has a new website. Check the site frequently for news and announcements.

T-Shirts

Support the Class of 2011 by purchasing a T-Shirt at Carolina Law Family Day on September 12. New sizes have been ordered! All proceeds go directly to the Class of 2011. Buy one for $12 or purchase two shirts for $20.
