Committee and Representative Applications

Want your voice to be heard on important issues facing the Law School?

Want to be more active in planning events for the student body? SBA is currently accepting applications for the following committee and representative positions for the 2010-2011 school year:

  • Building and Parking Representative - One (1) representative shall work directly with the UNC Department of Public Safety to procure parking places for law students and to promote alternatives to on-campus parking. (I personally would like the B&P Rep to work on a carpooling solution to help alleviating some of the parking issues we are having.)
  • Commencement Ball Committee - Six (6) representatives shall work with the law school staff, faculty, and students to advise the Student Bar Association (SBA) of the feasibility of and student interest in having a Commencement Ball or event after commencement similar to Barristers' Ball.
  • Elections Representatives - Two (2) representatives shall conduct all elections provided for in the Constitution of the Student Bar Association, or specially called by the Board of Governors; and to certify promptly the results thereof to the President of the Student Bar Association. One of the representatives shall be the 3L Class President unless otherwise designated by a simple majority (50% +1) vote of the Board of Governors.
  • Faculty Selection Committee - Ten (10) representatives shall assist the Faculty Selection Committee with interviewing potential faculty, articulating student feedback from these interviews, and representing the student body's interest.
  • Law Revue Representatives - Four (4) representatives shall organize and coordinate the annual Law Revue performance. Law Revue is the annual parody of life at Carolina Law, and is written, produced, and performed entirely by law students.
  • Webmaster / Technology Representative - One (1) representative shall serve as webmaster advisor for student organizations and meet periodically with the Dean of Information Technology to discuss the technology needs of the students.

Please send a cover letter and a resume (no GPA or class rank) indicating which committee or committees you wish to be considered for to SBA President David Brown at

Class of 2011 - Commencement Speaker

A message from Eddie Thomas, 3L Class Representative:

One of the privileges we have as 3L representatives is to pick the graduation speaker. We would not do so without the input and recommendations from the class of 2011. Therefore, we are asking that you send any suggestions for the 2011 Commencement speaker to Eddie Thomas, 3L representative at Please email suggestions by July 19, 2010. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from all of you.
