Budget

General Information & Procedural Overview

The Student Bar Association Budget Allocation Hearing takes place two times each academic year, once during the Fall Semester and once during the Spring Semester. The Fall Budget Allocation Hearing generally takes place during the last week in September, while the Spring Budget Allocation Hearing generally takes place during the last week in January.

At each Budget Allocation Hearing, recognized student organizations are invited to request funds from the Student Bar Association for student activities and events they wish to organize during that semester. All recognized student organizations are able to request from the funds collected by the Student Bar Association Student Fee, which is currently set at $14.50 per student.

Recognized student organizations requesting funds must do the following:

  1. Provide the Board of Governors of the Student Bar Association with a written estimate of funds that are to be used during that semester prior to the Budget Allocation Hearing, and
  2. Have their Treasurer, or other designated representative, present the request at the Budget Allocation Hearing.

Disbursement of funds to each recognized student organization is made at the discretion of the Board of Governors of the Student Bar Association.

Information for 2009 Fall Budget Meeting

The Student Bar Association will be holding their Fall Budget Meeting on October 4, 2009.  This is an opportunity for each organization to request funding from the Student Bar Association for their organization.  In preparation for that meeting, and to inform each organization of recent changes made by SBA, I will be holding a meeting on September 15, 2009, at 12:00 p.m., in room 5048 at the law school.  We request that one representative be present from each organization (preferably the treasurer) in order to receive funding in the fall.  Please e-mail me at emfunde@email.unc.edu if you have any questions or conflicts.
