What is SALDF?

The Student Animal Legal Defense Fund (SALDF) is affiliated with the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF), an organization of both attorney and non-attorney members that has been fighting for the interests of animals since 1979. The ALDF may occasionally call on SALDF chapters to assist in legal research for ALDF cases. The mission of the SALDF will be the same as that of the ALDF, which is as follows: "To provide a forum for education, advocacy, and scholarship aimed at protecting the lives and advancing the interests of animals through the legal system, and raising the profile of the field of animal law."

Members will aim to follow and fulfill this mission. Members of the SALDF will see the abuse, suffering, and exploitation of animals as a subject deserving time and effort. There will be no time commitment required of the SALDF members. It is hoped, however, that members will be willing to commit to helping with at least one project every semester.
