Carolina Public Interest Law Organization will host its annual Auction & Benefit at Top of the Hill on January 29, 2015 from 7 p.m.-11 p.m. All of the proceeds from the event go directly to fund UNC law students accepting full-time, unpaid public interest law positions for the summer. Last year the event raised $18,000, helping to fund 7 students’ public-interest internships, and this year we hope to raise $20,000. Please bring your checkbooks or cash, as we only have one credit card machine.
The auction features a live and silent auction, giving students a chance to bid on unique experiences with their professors: from camping trips, dinner at a professor's home, to canoing, and much more! The event also aims to support local small businesses which graciously donated many of the auction items. UNC sports memorabilia, vacation homes, shopping parties, wine tastings, art, ski passes and more than a hundred other items and services will be up for auction. Carolina Law's very own Dean Myers will be the auctioneer and emcee, and there will be a cash bar and heavy hors d’oeuvres catered by Top of the Hill. Tickets cost $13 in advance or $15 at the door, and cover admission and the cost of food.
We are always looking for donations, so if you would like to donate an item, big or small, please contact our Vice President Annie Kouba.
This year's auction is also selling advance online tickets! Online tickets will be available until noon the day of the auction. Purchase online tickets for $13. CPILO will also be selling tickets for $13 when tabling in the law school rotunda. Tickets will be sold for $15 at the door.
