Hannah is from Holden Beach, NC and graduated from NC State in 2019 with a B.S. in Industrial & Systems Engineering. After law school, she intends to pursue a career in public interest law in either public defense or civil rights work.
In her spare time, Hannah enjoys visiting local breweries, going to concerts, baking, and hanging out with her dogs and cat.

Megan Kahane, 2L

Megan is from Bethpage, N.Y., and graduated from SUNY Old Westbury in 2019 with a B.S. in Accounting. At Old Westbury, Megan was active in the Honors College and the Accounting department, while working three part-time jobs as a full-time student. She plans to become a prosecutor as a step towards her eventual career as a legal advocate for victims of sexual and domestic violence.
In her spare time, Megan enjoys going to the beach, reading romance novels, listening to true crime podcasts, and attending concerts and Broadway musicals.
Nicholas grew up in Albertson, N.C. and graduated from Appalachian State University with a B.A. in Environmental Economics and Policy. At Appalachian State, Nicholas was an active participant in Boone's local government, serving on various town committees and task forces. After law school, Nicholas is interested in being an advocate for rural areas and pursuing impact litigation work.
When he isn't stretching his neck after studying law books for hours, Nicholas enjoys listening to music, watching old movies, reading dusty books, and exploring areas of North Carolina.

Olivia is from Roma, TX and graduated from Baylor University with a double major in Great Texts of the Western Tradition and Political Science. At Baylor, she participated in Model United Nations and became interested in international law.
When she’s not studying or working, Olivia enjoys spending time with her husband who is in the Marine Corps, and walking their dog, Marlin.

Marissa is originally from California but has lived in North Carolina for ten years. Marissa graduated from UNC Greensboro in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a minor in Sociology. Prior to attending law school, Marissa worked at an emergency dispatch center and with Duke University.
Outside of school, Marissa enjoys spending time with her three dogs (Duke, Duchess and Zeus), traveling, and listening to true crime podcasts.

Bonnie Ballard, 2L
Bonnie is from Kernersville, NC and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a B.A. in English and Political Science. Before coming to law school, she worked at the U.S. Department of Justice. She is primarily interested in environmental law with a focus on environmental justice.
Bonnie enjoys camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities. She is also obsessed with her cat, Arthur, and will gladly show you her photo album dedicated to him.

Contact Elise Elise grew up in Youngstown, Ohio where she quickly learned that she was not suited for cold weather. She earned B.A.’s in Political Science, Sociology, and Criminology from the South Carolina Honors College in 2019. She is very passionate about public interest and pro bono work, particularly prisoners’ rights. She also serves as the president of Law Students Against Sexual and Domestic Violence, president of Child Action, and as the ABA Liaison for the Student Bar Association.
In her free time, she loves to make homemade pasta, listen to podcasts, hang out with her cats (Eliot Ness and Malala), and fight for the abolition of the prison system.

James grew up in Charleston, South Carolina and graduated from the University of South Carolina Honors College in 2019 with a B.S. in Economics, Supply Chain and Operations, and Management. During college, James worked as a personal trainer until he interned for the legal division of a non-profit, which helped him decide to attend law school. Following graduation, James hopes to work for a government agency or non-profit dedicated to fixing the environmental crisis.
In his spare time, James likes to go to the gym, the beach (for sand volleyball), or any park with a frisbee golf course.

Olivia is from Charlotte, NC, and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2020 with a B.A. in Reporting Journalism and a minor in Environmental Science. She is very passionate about public interest work, particularly related to the environment, women’s rights, and the death penalty.
In her free time, Olivia enjoys trying new recipes, traveling, and playing with her puppy, Gordon.
